Silent Retreat: Becoming God’s Beloved

09_feb_silent_retreat_2.jpgOn the weekend of February 20 – 22, Peter Bankson from Seekers Church will be facilitating the silent retreat at Dayspring Farm. On this winter weekend retreat we’ll have time in the silence to reflect on how God is calling us into the future and where we are in the journey to becoming more deeply the Beloved of God.

09_feb_silent_retreat_3.jpgIn Life of the Beloved Henry Nouwen reminds us that we are already beloved by God: “Being the Beloved is the origin and the fulfillment of the life of the Spirit.” The path to knowing more deeply that we are God’s beloved leads us to confront ourselves in the warm light of God’s love.  We will reflect on Nouwen’s meditation on Communion bread – Taken, Blessed, Broken and Shared-and to consider where we are in this journey.

Peter says: “On this mid-winter weekend we’ll have the opportunity to share:

  • a welcoming, quiet community

  • a safe place for silence, prayer,

  • reflection and dreaming;

  • an invitation to open yourself to God’s call in a deeper way,

  • to hear the invitation to step out on the path God is creating  before you;

  • and, Good food and a warm fire.”

Peter has been part of Seekers Church since 1976, where he is a Steward and part of the Servant Leadership Team. He helps lead an annual pilgrimage to Guatemala sponsored by Faith at Work and is part of the teaching team for the Course on Spiritual Companionship sponsored by the Washington National Cathedral.
