Worship – Pat led worship inspired by a hymn.
Housekeeping – The next meeting will be March 6 at 5:00 p.m. Keith will moderate, Sandra will record, Peter will lead worship, and Marjory and Trish will serve as dinner angels.
Report from Katie Fisher’s review team – Peter reported for the group. Katie had enthusiastically described her ongoing interest serving as the building use coordinator to the review group, although she sees it as a place to use her gifts but not necessarily as a place of call. Peter described the review as extremely positive, recommending her continuation. The team noted how many different groups used the building in 2010, implementing Seekers’ goal for it to be a “ministry of place” and Jake Folger is meeting with her to explore additional daytime users. The team recommended that Katie receive an increase in her hourly rate to equal $985 per month, retroactive to January 2011. The Stewards approved this.
Claiming Seekers Church as one’s own. Brenda led us in an exploration of what is required to claim that “Seekers is my church.” A number of people worship somewhat irregularly with us while living out their call, even though we state that we believe it is important to worship regularly together and engage in daily ministry, yet they make contributions to our community life and receive energy from us. In the discussion we identified a number of contributing factors, including distance, work, other interests, and other issues. We discussed the possibility that our relocation from the Church of the Savior also may have unintentionally emphasized worship together over mission groups, which may have not been the desired emphasis for some. We also recognized that technology may be linking people in Seekers without face to face contact.
