BODY OF CHRIST — MIRROR OF GOD

REFLECTION

What in God’s name are we doing here?
What in God’s name are we doing here?
What in God’s name are we doing here?
What in God’s name are we doing here?
What in God’s name are we doing here?
What in God’s name are we doing here?
What in God’s name are we doing here?
What in God’s name are we doing here?

PRELUDE

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:
The Spirit calls, and we are here.
Unison:
With invisible tongues of fire dancing among us,
we lean into the rushing wind of God’s breath,
we hear the crashing thunder of God’s footsteps.
Leader:
The Spirit calls, and we are here,
Listening, touching, wondering.
Unison:
The Spirit calls , and we are here,
Praising God!

SILENCE

LITANY

Leader:
Glorious Christ, once again,
we see the living surface of this earth awake,
and we tremble.
Voice 1:
We behold the beauty of your spirit as it rises up
adorned with all the riches of the world.
Voice 2:
You are the divine influence,
secretly diffused,
active in the depths of all matter.
Voice 1:
Hidden in the bright snow, the limpid pools,
the evergreen hills, the fiery stars.
Voice 2:
You are the mirror of God:
the first and the last;
the living and the dead and the risen again.
Unison:
In truth you dwell in this sacred place,
our Christ and our God.

SILENCE

PRAYER

CONFESSION

Leader:
We are here, but do not always know
why or what we are doing.
People:
We do not often know the difference
between just being busy,
and being part of the unfolding
of your good creation.

We do not often know if what we do
is for your glory,
for our own,
or for no good at all.

Leader:
Forgive us, Holy Spirit,
when we do not know
what in Your Name we are doing here.

INDIVIDUAL PRAYERS OF CONFESSION

ASSURANCE

Leader:
When we forget, God remembers.
When we are lost, God finds us.
In God’s Name, we are forgiven.
In God’s Name, we know ourselves:
The image of God. Amen.
