REFLECTION

If we knew how to listen to God, if we knew how to look around us, our whole life would become prayer. … it unfolds under God’s eyes and no part of it must be lived without being freely offered to God.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Praise from all creatures:

Voice 1: Laughers and list makers,

poets and plodders and prophets;

Voice 2: The wrinkled, the newborn,

the whale and the worm;

All: From all and from me, praise be to God,

Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit.

RESPONSIVE READING

Leader:      Gracious and merciful is the Holy One,

slow to anger, full of love.

God is good in every way, merciful to every creature.

Voice 1:     The Holy One is faithful in every word

and gracious in every work.

She supports the fallen, raises those bowed down.

Voice 2:     The Holy One is just in every way,

loving in every deed.

He is near to those who call, who cry out from their hearts.

Leader:      God grants them their desires,

                  hears their cry and saves them.

All:             Let all flesh bless God’s many names,

holy, both now and forever.

PRAYERS

COMMON CONFESSION

Leader: Let us acknowledge our need for God’s forgiveness.

People: While I hid my sin,

my bones grew weak from endless groaning.

Leader: Day and night, under the weight of your hand,

my strength withered as in a summer drought.

All: Then I stopped hiding my sin and spoke out,

“God, I confess my wrong…”

INDIVIDUAL PRAYERS OF CONFESSION

ASSURANCE

Leader: Rejoice, for we are pardoned.

Our sin is forgiven.

Those who trust in God

are surrounded by God’s constant love.

All: Amen.
