School of Christian Living—Sharing Our Commitment to Contemporary Christian Relevancy: A Covenant Christian Community and Seekers Church Conversation

September 17, 2014 @ 4:00 pm - October 15, 2014 @ 6:30 pm EDT

Led by Maybelle Bennett & Rev. Paulette Jones Imaan

Wed., Sept. 10 through Oct. 15

This class launches a long-awaited discussion encouraged by Kate Cudlipp and Maybelle Bennett during several sessions of the “Sacred Conversations on Race and Diversity.”  Of all the areas of diversity examined by this group of Seekers and Covenant members (race, gender, ethnicity, etc.) the diversity of Christian perspectives between our churches has never been fully explored.  Reading Bishop Spong’s book, A New Christianity for a New World: Why Traditional Faith is Dying and How a New Faith is Being Born, together will give us an opportunity to share some of our theological orientations against the backdrop of an insightful and somewhat controversial book.  Please obtain a copy of the book and begin reading it before the first class.  All participants are encouraged to bring their own brown bag meal to eat together at 7 before class.  Class starts at 7: 45 pm.
