Servant Leadership Working Group Report – Wrapping up discussion on Recommendations 8-10; considering Recommendations 17-20 – Keith
#8-10 Summary (attached). Sandra asks if implementation is up to Stewards. Keith put that in the Parking Lot. Marjory hopes someone will offer shepherding as a call. No formal action taken.
#17 Rewording adopted as follows: “SLT sets the agenda for Stewards meetings and provides guidance for Stewards’ attention to community matters.”
#18 There was extensive discussion on the need for two stewards required for a mission group. It was suggested that two stewards are needed to start a mission group but just one to maintain it once the group is established. Also, whether it’s recommended or required, and whether exceptions can be made. John will work on wording for exceptions with Keith & Erica to present when the working group recommendations are next considered.
#19 re: SCG two classes in SCG before joining a mission group. This was not adopted and won’t be discussed further at this time.
#20 will be taken up in January as well as a review of Parking Lot issues to decide whether to have further discussions at that time.
2023 Draft Budget – Marjory
Of note was Administration anticipated expenses. We hope to employ a worship zoom host for 3 ½ hrs. every Sunday.
2023 Draft Stewards Agenda Calendar – Trish for SLT
Children’s Team Report – Judy
Children’s Word in Seekers Sunday service –
Most of this year, Dave has needed to do the Word himself because of lacking volunteers. This has resulted in a temporary pause. He agrees to continue, starting as soon as Nov. 27, asking Stewards take a turn by choosing a date or two as they are willing. Written content suggestions will be sent to each volunteer. Please email your offer to David.Lloyd@seekerschurch.org.
Sunday Zoom at noon –
In lieu of in-person Sunday School, our children have been getting grounded in the Christian faith each Sunday for the past year during a 15-20 minute session led by Judy. Going forward, Stewards are being asked to take a turn once or twice in the next few months. She welcomes a visit during a Sunday session and offers to share how she has been organizing it each week. Please email your offer to her at jrlantz1@gmail.com.
The Children’s Team needs one or two new members. Please consider it and call either Dave or Judy with questions.
Proposal for Christmas Eve in-person gathering – Dave for SLT
We will have a hybrid service of Lessons & Carols on Christmas Eve with light refreshments to follow. Marjory and Joan volunteered to help organize the in-person part. They will ask for a signup of names and offers to donate cookies, etc. Time to be determined. There will be no Sunday service on the 25th.

Summary of the discussion relating to Recommendations 8-10
8-10:
Over the last two meetings and some email exchanges, the thoughtful discussion coalesced around the idea that shepherding or providing spiritual direction, particularly to new people and those not in mission groups, is something that the group wants to explore further and/or provide new energy to. The conversation made clear that it is not the role of SLT alone, but needs to be a combined effort between Stewards and the larger community, including OMG. To the extent that those efforts need coordinating, SLT may have a helpful role to play.
