Housekeeping: Stewards will meet on Sunday, March 1 at 5:00 pm at Seekers.

Moderator: Margreta                 Worship: Sandra

Recorder: David                           Angels: Jacqie & Cynthia

Agenda:

This meeting’s worship was led by Marjory.  She read the 1st Nation translation of the Beatitudes – all 10 of them beginning with “Creator’s blessing on ….”.

Election of Officers: Brenda

Our by-laws state that we elect them each year from the Stewards.  We confirmed willingness to serve, and consequently elected the following officers:

President: Keith

Vice President: Deborah

Secretary: David

Debbie Barwick, acting as Treasurer, reports to the Financial Oversight Group, chaired by Marjory.  We expect to elect the Treasurer at our March meeting.

End of Year Financial Report: Marjory        (Seekers Church 2019 Year end budget report, as of Feb 2, 2020 is attached here)

Although it appears that we have $18,000 in net income, $13,000 of that belongs in the restricted One-time Gift account and $4,000+ represents the Christmas offering for designated recipients.  Since no payment was made to Rolling Ridge or Stillpoint, the $1,000 in the 2019 budget will be sent soon – and that takes care of the “net income”.

Building Use & Issues Report: Peter & Deborah for Time & Space ( 2020_02_02 T&S report to Stewards and 2019 Time and Space Summary are attached here)

It was noted that the Prep School Academy of DC will be using our building through the end of June.

Dave asks – do we need a part time caretaker going forward?

Parking Needs: Trish

Trish reviewed Pat’s report details of last month.  Michele had offered to be in conversation with him about working with this since he will not continue with it.  They spoke.  Not clear if she is the person.  Trish will check with her.

Sandra will go to Torchinsky requesting them to consider allowing Seekers parking in their lot for special occasions such as Carroll Café on Friday evenings, weddings, memorial services, etc.

Cynthia will approach the Dry Cleaners to locate the owners of the building.  Following that, we will approach them to use their spaces for our parking needs.

Margreta will approach the Metro bureaucracy for an update on their playground plans across the street.

Idea offered from Keith – in Japan, they use lifts to stack cars in tight spaces.

Ecumenical Council Report: Keith

Reviewing the January 19 minutes, he noted three points:

  1. 8th Day is adding a 3rd (middle) membership level that adds some accountability. It includes a COS history class.  (They have no SCG).  This could be offered in our SCG for new folks.
  2. Friends of Jesus – Harold Vines offered a letter stating that he will be stepping back from his pastoring going forward.
  3. Bread of Life – their midwifing group disbanded after launching Recovery Café. (We might do this for Christmas & Easter dinner, etc.)

Christmas Fund: Brenda

We collected approximate $4,300.  $2,980 has been dispersed to 3 families so far.  The balance is being held in short term reserve.

Stewards sharing: Cynthia and Brenda

Soul Talk concluded our meeting.
